My Story

Hello lash babes!  Soooooo guess what?  I'm old.  When the F*&ck did this happen?

I had an 80 year old lash client, yes gurl!!!!  She told me you always feel 19.  Your body ages and you get smarter.

Well...it is true.  Luckily my knees only hurt a little bit on cold days, but I have been in the lash game since 2007.  I actually started in skincare sales with a natural/organic skincare mlm in 2002.  The mlm actually taught me a lot about sales, skincare and selfcare.  I had a coffee shop in 2006 and opened a second location before selling off both in 2007.  That was my first experience with employees.  At that time I decided to get divorced a second time with three school-aged children.  I only share this because life is FULL of surprises.  As I'm looking back at two decades of business I just want you to know I get it, whatever it is.  We are multifaceted spiritual beings and while this is all about BUSINESS, I'm really hoping it can be more.  It can be truth, community and some lighthearted support.

So, yes, I decided to blow up my life in my 30's.  There was something about turning 30 I think because  I decided I'd rather be divorced twice than be living THIS life.  I had a coffee shop at the time and we needed to sell it, and the house and get divorced.  I started esthetics school while still working for the unnamed mlm.  I had built a team of over 300 people across the United States over 6 levels deep.  For people in mlm's you know that is cool.  I got an emerald and diamond ring, I got the title Executive Sales Rep and for a mom of 3 in her 20's it was a big deal.  I flew around the county on the weekends training people and lived the mom life during the week.

My sister is a hair stylist and my state didn't have regulations back then for eyelash extensions.  The salon she worked at was losing an esthetician that did extensions and they paid for half my kit if I would go take a class at a beauty show.  I sat in a ballroom classroom with probably 80 other people and three ladies circled the room as we were lead on how to do extensions on a mannequin.  A meager kit was sent home with a DVD that was nothing more than a commercial on why clients should get the extensions.  So... zero training material.  The class in 2007 was $350.  A month later I paid $999 for another class, this time about 12 people in a smaller hotel ballroom.  It was all day and included a better kit and a test at the end.  We also applied and removed 1 eyelash to a human in the afternoon.   I find even now a lot of beauty industry training falls short.

Fast forward a few years and I am borrowing money from 3 people to buy a massage business for $10k.  After training employees, I open a second location for just waxing and lashes.  During that time one employee wanted me to open a third location and that is when I started looking into where the products are coming from.  In 2010, everything was coming from South Korea.  I found my lash adhesive supplier and have been ordering from him ever since.  We are Facebook friends and I really value our professional relationship.  The rest you could say is herstory.  I trained my first student Karen, who still calls and texts me today, 15 years later with questions any time she wants to, and I love it.  I have a passion for teaching students how to do salon services properly.

That's my LBP story.  I'd genuinely love to hear yours!
